Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Highlighted Text Reader collects and why. The app is operated from Pakistan. That is the operator’s country, not a limit on who may use the app. Some processing runs on Google’s servers outside Pakistan.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for your name, phone number, email, or password. We do not create a public profile. We do not sell your data or use it for ads.

What we collect

• Anonymous account. The app signs you in anonymously with Firebase Authentication and stores a random user ID. That ID is not your name or email.
• Photos you choose. If you use Camera or Gallery, the page photo is sent to Google (Firebase AI / Gemini) so the app can read highlighted text and meanings. We do not use those photos for advertising.
• Saved highlights. Phrases, meanings, colors, and related metadata you save are stored on your device and synced to Cloud Firestore so they are available after reinstall or on another device you sign into with the same anonymous account, or that you import with a QR transfer.
• Scan limits. A daily scan count tied to your anonymous ID is stored in Firestore so the free daily cap works across reinstalls.
• QR transfers. If you share saved highlights, a short-lived copy is stored in Firestore so another phone can import it.
• Diagnostics. On release builds we use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (events, crash logs, device type). These can include the anonymous user ID. They are not used to identify you by name.
• Support email you send. If you email us (including an extra-scan request), we receive whatever you put in that message.

Permissions

Camera and photos are used only when you take or pick a page, or scan a QR code. You can turn those permissions off in system settings. The app will not be able to scan until you turn them back on.

Who processes data

Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, and AI / Gemini) processes the data above to run the app. We do not share it with other companies for their marketing.

How long we keep it

Saved highlights stay until you delete them or your anonymous account is removed. Scan-quota records stay so the daily limit can be enforced. QR transfers expire after a short window (about 30 minutes). Crash and analytics data follow Google’s retention for those products.

Your choices

Delete saved highlights in the app. Delete the app to clear local data (the anonymous cloud account and synced library may remain). To request cloud deletion, use the Request data deletion page or email us.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this page. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
